Round 10 – Russell Vale United v Puckamia Bay Dugongs

While the FC boys face a double header this weekend due to the State Cup match, United were able to move their game against Puckamia Bay Dugongs to Wednesday night under lights at Cawley Park.

As is usual with night games, the ground was a little dewey at kickoff meaning the ball would skid a lot more off the turf causing difficulties for both sides, and especially the keepers. United started the game intent on actually scoring a goal in the first half for the first time this season, and came out firing. A number of chances fell their way but weren’t taken, until about the 20th minute when they were successful in scoring. Or, more correctly, Puckamia were successful in scoring an own goal. Chippy tried to claim it, but the other United players were having none of it. Still, they were one-nil up in the first half, so goal achieved.

The second goal arrived shortly thereafter, with Tony picking the ball up at sweeper and meandering through the entire Puckamia Bay team, into the box and tucked the ball away. A great goal, inadequately recounted.

A dam had broken, and Russell Vale were looking for more goals. They were duly rewarded when a flowing passing move saw the ball passed in from the right for Snowy to put past the keeper. 3-0 and that’s how the teams went into half time.

The second half was fairly uneventful compared to the first half, with United taking their foot off the pedal, and playing the game out. The only notable action was Puckamia Bay scoring about 25 minutes into the half.

The game finished 3-1, United had broken their drought by scoring in the first half of the game, and there were no injuries. A great result all round.

Bring on the State Cup.
