Round 12 Russell Vale United v’s Thirroul

UTD turned up with 13 men to take on Thirroul Saturday afternoon at 1pm at Thirroul.  The Thirroul lads were after their first win of the season but we were intent to keep affixed at the top of the comp.

We started well and controlled the ball for most of the game. The second field is very skinny compared to Cawley Park but this wasn’t too much of an issue against the young lads.

Chippy started with a through ball and ran into space to chip the keeper to open the ledger. Midway through the first half Chippy went for a header, made contact but received a small push in the back in the BOX so Tony Cabassi found the net for 2-0.

Late in the second half Phil fed  to a ball to Hollers who made a run into the left side of the box, slid a ball across the face and Rosey converted nicely. 3-0 half time.

In the second half the game pretty much stayed the same level. UTD kept pushing, with many opportunities. Botts found the net with a 12 yard strike after the ball came back out of the box to make it 4-0. 10 in later, Jim pushed a ball through to Cabass who ran into the box on the right, pushed a ball across to find Andy and the back of the net for 5-0. That’s the way it stayed, another good win for UTD.

Jim.
