ROUND 17 RVALE UTD TAKE ON UNI DIGGERS

RVALE UTD 2 – 0 UNI DIGGERS

The worst ground we have played on ever I think, the boys started straight out of the blocks with good passing, ball control and attempts at goal.

HOLLERS bagged the first goal after a long throw into the box. The ball came off a head, onto the ground and Pete cleaned up the scraps.

We maintained good control of the ball and a header from Phil was plucked from the line by the keeper. The keeper also stopped a monster shot by Hollers that would have found the net high and in the corner. It was a great save.

UNI gathered some composure and started passing the ball around late in the half but were never a threat.

Second half was more of a tussle but with UTD still in control. No 23 from UNI was as usual a grub keeping his standards high from the 1st round. After taking out Cabass early in the game, and using elbows wherever he could, Simon and Botts came to the defence with some well timed hits. There was the usual pushing and shoving but UTD got on with the game, something the ref was unable to do from the kick off and we bagged another goal. Craig sent a corner far post and Snowy half volleyed the ball from 10 m out with an angle of about 20 degrees. Smashed into the net and the Keeper still motionless, UTD were up 2 nil and that’s the way it stayed. A good game by all on the paddock (full of holes and dust) and a man of the match performance by Hollers. Kept the ball on a string, a goal and full control through the middle all day. Could of should of had 3 goals to his name.

As it turned out, our win and Oak Flats draw gave UTD the Minor Premiership on Saturday afternoon. Undefeated so far, a well deserved one at that.
